Treatment Options
Holistic Health
This option views physical, mental and spiritual aspects of life as interconnected and equally important to treatment. Although holistic treatment is commonly associated with alternative medicine, it is increasingly used in mainstream medical practice as part of a broad view of comprehensive care.
Holistic treatment helps the patient address the ultimate cause of the addiction. This allows the treatment team to create a specialized plan for the individual instead of relying solely on group programs.
Group therapy as a stand-alone treatment module works for some people, but not all. A holistic approach increases one’s chance for a full recovery.
Twelve Step Drug Rehab Centres
This is the conventional method of recovery from various obsessive-compulsive behaviours, which have become unmanageable in peoples’ lives. Millions of people have used the 12-step tools to successfully change their lives and recover from negative and even life-threatening behaviours.
They are based on a set of spiritual (not religious) principles created by Alcoholics Anonymous in 1935. Anonymity underpins the 12-step way of life. By sharing with like-minded individuals, people find fellowship and support, which is the success of the program.
Religious-based Drug Rehab Centres
These centres try to get people out of their own environment. By working hard at a camp and connecting with religious concepts, people are encouraged to ‘get back’ to God. A small percentage of people complete this type of drug rehab program.
Behaviour Modification Drug Rehab Centres
At these centres, the purpose is to ‘break’ the person through peer pressure and behaviour modification techniques. The concept relies on breaking the spirit of a person, and rebuilding him or her. A small percentage can become harmless people.
All-Natural Treatment Drug Rehab Centres
This option addresses the biophysical and biochemical imbalances with a program that eliminates toxins from the body, and cravings for substances. The treatment includes an educational program that teaches new life skills to help a person tackle life’s hardships.
A large part of the treatment teaches people to live life based on one’s personal views within the morals of society. This culminates with the person applying these skills to repair the damage of the things that are holding him/her back in life.
